The man who sprayed Ilhan Omar with vinegar to plead guilty to the state

The Minneapolis man who fired at Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., in vinegar during a January town hall changed his guilty plea to federal charges stemming from the incident.

Anthony James Kazmierczak’s attack on Omar happened a few weeks after the killing of Renee Good by an ICE agent, which increased the tension between the officials of the organization and the leaders of the Democratic Republic of the Church. Democratic leadership asked federal agents to leave Minnesota.

In March, Kazmierczak pleaded not guilty to one count of assaulting a U.S. official, but an April court filing from his attorney, John Fossum, said Kazmierczak would plead guilty after “reaching an agreement” with federal prosecutors. A hearing on Kazmierczak’s plea change is scheduled for May 7.

The exact details of the residence are unknown. Fox News Digital has reached out to Kazmierczak’s attorney for comment.

Video of the Jan. town hall. 27 showed Kazmierczak running on stage while Omar was speaking. He wanted Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to step down and ICE agents out of Minnesota.

He pulled out a syringe filled with apple cider vinegar and water and tried to inject the congressman with the liquid before the policeman arrived.

“He’s not resigning,” Kazmierczak said in the video, referring to then-Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

Kazmierczak also pointed the finger at Omar, yelling, “you’re dividing the people of Minnesota.”

Omar was unharmed and continued with his town hall after Kazmierczak’s arrest.

“I’m fine. I survived so that this little activist wouldn’t scare me from doing my job. I don’t let bullies win. I’m thankful for my good voters who followed me. Minnesota is strong,” Omar he wrote in the post to X at that time.

Since the incident, Kazmierczak has been kept in custody. A magistrate judge ruled that the “serious and dangerous circumstances” of the alleged assault made it impossible to ensure that public safety was not at risk if Kazmierczak was released on bail.

During the investigation, an FBI agent interviewed an associate of Kazmierczak, who said that Kazmierczak once said that “someone should kill” Omar.
