The Golden State Warriors’ heyday is over, and it looks like Steve Kerr’s era is nearing that same end.
After the Warriors were eliminated from the playoffs and eliminated from playoff contention on Friday, Kerr didn’t worry that his playing time in Golden State was coming to an end.
“We will talk about the next thing for the Warriors, what is the plan for this season,” said Kerr. “And we will come to a decision together about what’s next.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen. I still love coaching. But I get it. All these jobs have an expiration date. There’s a run that happens, and when you run out, sometimes there’s new blood and new ideas and all that.
“And, if that’s the case, I’d be nothing but grateful for the incredible opportunity that anybody would have to coach this team, in front of our Bay fans and to coach Steph Curry, to coach. [Draymond Green] and the whole team.”
Kerr shared a moment with franchise executives Curry and Green as the game ended, and while he didn’t want to tell reporters what he said, the hot mic still caught him.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen next, but I love you,” Kerr told his stars.

One thing is for sure – Kerr will not be coaching another team next season.
“I don’t want to leave Steph. I’m not going to coach anywhere else next year in the NBA. I will never leave Steph,” he said.
“But all of these things must be consistent and appropriate. Those are all discussions that will take place.”
It was a dark time for the Warriors, compared to the 2010s when they made five consecutive NBA Finals, winning three of them. They won the NBA championship in 2022, but have missed the playoffs twice since then. On two other occasions, they were eliminated in the conference semifinals.

Kerr joined the Warriors in 2014 and won a championship in his first season. He also won five as a player, including the Chicago Bulls’ second threepeat.
Curry just finished his 17th NBA season, while Green has 14 years under his belt.
