Marcos says the government is working with Czech officials to bring back the former Co. lawyer

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday he said the government is working with Czech officials for the immediate return of ex-lawyer Elizaldy “Zaldy” S. Co.
Mr. Marcos earlier announced on his social media account on Thursday evening that Mr. Co was caught and arrested in Prague.
“Our communication with the Czech authorities continues,” said Mr. Marcos on Facebook on Friday.
The President also said that, based on the latest information, the former Ako Bikol was stopped at the German border after trying to enter from the Czech Republic.
“He was denied entry and returned to the Czech authorities, where he remains in custody,” said Mr. Marcos.
As the government cooperates closely with the Czech government, Mr. Marcos said he is making sure that due process will be followed as he plans to return to the country as soon as possible.
He also said that the government will continue to inform the public.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said they are ready to help Co return to the country while following all legal procedures.
It also said that it is already working with the relevant agencies and its legal partners to confirm the information about Co’s arrest.
Mr. Co has been linked to the flood control controversy after being charged with looting, trespassing, and malfeasance over an alleged flood control project involving ghosts and deficient infrastructure works.
The most prominent case involved the P288-million flood control project in Oriental Mindoro that was filed before the Sandiganbayan. – Edg Adrian A. Eva
