Ford is recalling more than 140,000 Ranger trucks in the US after safety regulators warned that a wiring issue could increase the risk of fire, as well as possible crashes or injuries.
The recall affects 140,201 vehicles spanning the 2024 to 2026 model years, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The agency said the problem is linked to wires attached to the sun visor and headliner that may be misaligned or wrapped with too much tape, conditions that could cause the wires to fray and potentially cause an electrical short near the A-pillar.

To resolve the problem, Ford dealers will check the wiring and update the vehicle’s body control module software. Harnesses showing signs of damage will be replaced at no charge to owners, the agency said.

Regulators say interim notices warning drivers of the safety hazard are expected to be posted on April 27, with a final fix expected later this summer. The campaign has been identified as 26S29, and the affected VINs have been checked on the NHTSA website as of mid-April.
