FIFA rejects $100 train fare for 2026 World Cup at MetLife Stadium

With less than two months to go before the start of the 2026 World Cup, Democratic leaders in New Jersey and New York are scrambling to figure out how to get fans to Met Life Stadium. The results would be interesting if they did not reveal such a lack of skill.
New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill surprisingly announced that a train ride to eight games at the Meadowlands Center, which normally costs $12.90, will cost fans $150. That made FIFA, the world governing body of football, issue a red card.
FIFA says its original agreement stated that the venues where the games took place would pay for transportation, but Sherrill says the agreement was made by the former, and Democratic, administration in Trenton, and, for some reason, is no longer valid.

The bottom line is that the Democrats, who have the power to control the New York City metro area, have had years to get World Cup transportation and have done nothing.
NJ TRANSIT OFFICIAL EXPLAINING WORLD CUP COST INCREASING AS NJ GOV AND RECOMMENDS FIFA TO PAY TRAINING TICKETS $150
There is no possible excuse for this, as a matter of logistics. We are not talking about the arrival of D-Day here. It’s a few football games. This should not flummox state leaders.
Gotham’s Communist mayor, Zohran “Madman” Mamdani, ran ads last year promising cheap World Cup tickets to middle-class New Yorkers. Now, the Democrats in power can’t even bring supporters to the stadium.
It doesn’t make sense. Met Life Stadium hosts about 20 NFL games a year. It once hosted the Super Bowl, and Taylor Swift did a three-night gig that brought out 217,000 Swifties. How many people are we expecting in Ghana vs. Uruguay, or what?
DEMS USED FOR POWER NOW FACE BACKLASH AS EXPENSES CONTINUE IN NY, VIRGINIA
We see it all over the country, wherever the Democrats are in power.
Take Maryland, where the reconstruction of the Frances Key Scott Bridge, which was destroyed by a ship last year, was planned for $2 billion and was to open in 2028, but is now estimated at $5 billion and will not carry a vehicle until 2030.

Likewise in California, billions are being spent by Gov. Gavin Newsom for high-speed rail, animal shelters and fighting homelessness, but there’s no train, the wildlife bridge isn’t finished and homelessness has never been worse in the Golden State.
DHS SHUTDOWN PUT AMERICANS AT RISK AS WORLD CUP SECURITY IS ‘TOO LATE’: SEN FETTERMAN
When I first moved to West Virginia from Brooklyn there was work being done on an important local bridge. It was a real distraction. Then one day, on my car radio, I heard that the bridge was going to be completed a week early and under budget.
Intrigued, I called my friend who was a New York City councilman at the time and said, “Hey Joe, there’s this bridge down here, and they say it’s going to be done ahead of schedule and under budget. Do you know what that means?”
Joe replied, “No, I’ve never heard those words before.” We joked, but only a little.

It sounds like the Democrats in our urban areas just throw money at things like feasibility studies that often come back saying whatever, it’s not possible, but in the end they might get more funding for more studies.
But with the strange magic of governance, in our rural areas, officials just know how to, you know, fix things.
The amount of total incompetence that urban voters accept from Democrats is truly staggering. Just look at the rampant fraud in Minnesota’s “Institutes of Excellence”, or the fraud-ridden hospices in California where, miraculously, almost all patients receive treatment.
DEMOCRAT STRATEGY WARNS MAMDANI’S SYNC BUDGET PLAN GIVES REPUBLICANS A READY PUBLIC MESSAGE
And now, in New York and New Jersey, Democratic leaders are handling the simple and routine task of getting supporters across the East River like Moses parting the Red Sea, when this is the kind of easy thing city officials could have easily pulled off a hundred years ago.

Eleven of the 16 venues that will host next year’s tournament, which kicks off on Wednesday, are in the United States.
Say what you will about the old school Democratic Party machines that ruled places like New York and Philly in the past, they were as corrupt as they come, but they also got things done. For example, none of this transportation nonsense happened when Giants Stadium hosted the World Cup in 1994.

The sad state of affairs, across our great nation, from green town to green town is that the only thing the Democrats seem to know how to use is money, usually your money, to manage our urban decline.
Maybe one day, the citizens of our cities will give the Republicans a chance, if the Republicans try, but until then, good luck getting to the football game.
