eGovPH is getting a server upgrade following the end

The eGovPH platform is undergoing server upgrades to better cope with the high demand of users, following a recent outage caused by increased system traffic, according to the Department of Information and Communications (DICT) on Friday.

In a press release, DICT said the development focused on upgrading the platform’s servers and adding more cloud capacity to meet the growing demand of users.

The agency also said that it is working closely with various government agencies to ensure that their programs remain stable and well integrated on the platform.

“Instead of relying only on a centralized system, agencies are now expected to better manage their systems while staying connected through the eGovPH platform,” said David L. Almirol Jr., undersecretary for e-Government at DICT, in a statement.

“This is intended to reduce bottlenecks and prevent system-wide outages,” he added.

Mr. Almirol also said that the government wants more money to support the development of the platform.

These efforts come in the wake of outages, with reports first appearing online around April 13. Users have experienced difficulties logging in and accessing basic app services.

The DICT clarified that the disruption was caused by traffic in the system, especially following the rollout of new features such as eGov AI.

With nearly 40 million app downloads and growing, Mr. Almirol said the agency is focused on building a strong and reliable system that can handle millions of users without interruption. – Edg Adrian A. Eva
