A Guatemalan national in the U.S. illegally — authorities say he entered as a “fugitive” and has never met with immigration officials — has been charged in a fatal stabbing in Fairfax County, Virginia, Fox News said.

Fairfax County police said Monday that Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy, 38, was arrested and charged with murder, adding that he was being held without bond.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) sources confirmed to Fox News that Chavarria Muy does not have an unknown registration number, indicating that he has never met with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and is believed to have entered the US illegally at an unknown time and place.

ICE turned the detainer over to Fairfax County authorities.

Police responded to a stabbing just before 9:00 p.m. Sunday, and when they arrived, they found a man inside the home with multiple stab wounds.

Police immediately performed life-saving measures until Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department personnel took over and transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The suspect left the scene before police arrived, police said, and detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department’s Criminal Division began an investigation.

After an investigation, Chavarria Muy was identified as a suspect. The police said that he and the deceased were known.

The police finally found Chavarria Muy in the car and arrested him without incident.

DHS said ICE requested that Fairfax County officials honor the detainee and not release Chavarria Muy from custody, citing past instances where local authorities have refused to comply with such requests.

Virginia Democrat Gov. Abigail Spanberger previously signed an executive order banning cooperation between state and local law enforcement and immigration authorities, reversing a policy under former Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin that allowed such cooperation.

“Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy, a criminal immigrant from Guatemala, has been charged with murder after repeatedly stabbing a Fairfax man to death. ICE is asking Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger and Virginia politicians not to release this killer back into our communities,” said DHS Acting Secretary Lauren Bis. “This incident happened just one month after an innocent woman was killed by another illegal alien at the Spanberger bus stop.

“Open border policies have created yet another disaster that could have been prevented.”

The incident happened about one month after Stephanie Minter was stabbed to death at a bus stop in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Authorities charged Abdul Jalloh, 32, a native of Sierra Leone, with Minter’s murder.

Jalloh had been arrested more than 30 times before the attack, according to DHS, and previous convictions included rape, aggravated assault, assault, drug possession, identity theft and trespassing.

Authorities said the previous charges were dropped, allowing him to remain free.
