States facing record high gas prices as Iran war raises oil prices

Fuel prices are rising rapidly across the country, adding pressure to already strained household budgets conflict with Iran increases the cost of oil worldwide.

“Gas prices may indeed fall, but are unlikely to return to their pre-war levels for months, in part because of the time needed for global supplies to recover,” wrote Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum research at GasBuddy.

De Haan said seasonal factors also work against drivers. Demand typically increases heading into the summer months, while refinery maintenance and the switch to summer fuel blends may drive higher prices.
