The FDA is recalling chocolate products found to contain undeclared drug ingredients

FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary joins ‘Mornings with Maria’ to discuss the agency’s push to speed up life-saving drugs, fight copycat weight loss drugs and deliver faster treatments without compromising safety.
Two chocolate products have been recalled nationwide after they were found to contain undisclosed drug ingredients, government health officials have warned.
Gear Isle of California is voluntarily recalling certain portions of “Gold Lion Aphrodisiac Chocolate” and “ilum Sex Chocolate” after tests revealed the presence of sildenafil and tadalafil – active ingredients commonly used in erectile dysfunction drugs, according to Thursday’s announcement from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The products are sold online across the US and are marketed as dietary supplements.

The FDA has warned that undisclosed ingredients can pose serious health risks, especially to people taking nitrate medications for heart conditions.
The combination can cause a sudden and potentially “life-threatening” drop in blood pressure, according to the FDA.
“Among older men who are more likely to use these products, older men who use nitrates for heart conditions are at greater risk from these products,” the announcement notes.

Anyone with symptoms should contact a healthcare provider, according to the FDA.
