Prince Harry makes surprise visit to Kyiv, calls on US to do more in Ukraine – nationally
Prince Harry arrived in Kyiv on Thursday on an unannounced visit to the Ukrainian capital.
Harry, whose visit comes as the country endures its fifth year of war with Russia, said it was “good to be back in Ukraine” when he arrived at the city’s main train station, where he was greeted by a line of officials waiting on the platform.
When he arrived, the Duke of Sussex said that Ukraine “is a country that is bravely and successfully defending the eastern part of Europe,” and that “it is important that we do not forget the importance of that.”
The prince also spoke on Thursday at the security conference, where he delivered a keynote speech and told Russian President Vladimir Putin that “it is still a while now, to stop this war,” British newspaper ITV reported.
“The years that have passed in this war, with heavy losses and limited gains, it is becoming increasingly clear that this approach does not provide a winner – only more losses,” he continued.

“President Putin, no nation benefits from the continued loss of life we are seeing.”
Harry added that he was not a politician but “as a soldier who understands service, as a humanitarian who has seen the human cost of conflict, and as a friend of Ukraine who believes that the world should not become accustomed to this war or be numb to its consequences.”
He went on to speak with the Trump administration, asking Washington to do more and reminding them that it has a duty to protect Ukraine after the country agreed to give up its nuclear weapons.
“This is a time for American leadership – a time for America to show that it can honor its international treaty obligations – not out of charity, but because of its enduring role in global security and strategic stability,” he said.
According to NBC News, she is expected to visit the HALO Trust, a landmine disposal charity supported by her late mother, Princess Diana.
He is also scheduled to spend time with Ukrainian participants in the Invictus Games, whose foundation of the same name works to help injured veterans recover through sports, the US company said.

In his speech, he also praised the determination of the Ukrainian people and the country’s new military response, including its advanced drone capabilities.
Prince Harry last visited Ukraine in September 2025, where he met veterans at the National History Museum of Ukraine. His first visit to the war-torn country was in April 2025, when he went to Lviv, the largest city in western Ukraine, to visit a rehabilitation center.
