Heather Graham remembers being labeled ‘nerdy’ before ‘Driver’s Licence’ role

Before Hollywood came calling, Heather Graham said she was dismissed as a “friendly” kid.

The actor recalled being looked down upon in high school before landing the famous role in “License to Drive,” a turning point he described as a “big moment” that established his independence and career.

“I was naive…you know, I was smart and I was just like, nobody thought I was that good,” Graham recalled in an episode of “Dinner’s on Me with Jesse Tyler Ferguson.” “So I got this job as a celebrity, a crowd pleaser, and I had the worst style and the worst hair and makeup. Like I didn’t know how to like that. And then people were like, ‘Oh?’

“[The movie] I came out right when I graduated,” Graham added. “And I think people were like, ‘Well, maybe we should have paid attention to him.’

Graham revealed that playing the iconic role of Mercedes Lane in “License to Drive” was a “big moment” for the 17-year-old.

“It was a big thing for me. Like, that was a big moment,” he explained. “I had to make money. I was independent. I had a bank account, and I could live on my own.”

Graham began his career with small roles in commercials and television before landing youth films such as “Drugstore Cowboy” and “Swingers.”

He saw success with “Boogie Nights,” “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me” and “Bowfinger.”

Graham landed a role in the blockbuster movie “The Hangover” in 2009. He continued to act in films and television while expanding into writing and directing projects.

His latest film, “They Will Kill You,” hits theaters on March 27.

The 56-year-old actress has now shared some of her beauty secrets in a recent interview with Us Weekly.

Graham said he’s “never had a facelift,” but said he’s tried a series of other things — including “microneedling, Botox… and a bunch of laser stuff.”

“Some of those laser treatments are torture,” she said. “Like, an hour and a half of your face exploding.”

The movie star’s goal is to stay away from any invasive plastic surgery because she “doesn’t want to look weird” and that her “goal is to look natural.”

“I feel like some people get facelifts and they just look like… I mean, there are people who get it, and that’s great. But I just don’t want to be one of those people who get it and look confused,” she said. “But I don’t know [when] I grew up, I couldn’t completely refuse. Who knows, in the future.”

Graham also tries to maintain a balanced diet, getting 10 to 11 hours of sleep. She said she uses yoga as a way to stay in shape and manage stress, calling it “very cathartic.”
