Build-A-Bear Recalls 36,000 Bears Over Zip Choking Hazard

‘Barron’s Roundtable’ panel recaps wave of AI-induced market hits.
About 36,000 Build-A-Bear plush bears are being recalled due to a potential choking hazard, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced Thursday.
Recalls include the Heartwarming Hugs weighted bear, which features a side pouch with a heart filled with 2.5 pounds of ceramic beads that can be heated or cooled.
According to the CPSC, the bag is secured with a zipper, but the zipper slide can fold up, posing a strangulation hazard.
No injuries were reported, but one incident in the United Kingdom involved a zipper slide becoming blocked, the agency said.

“The safety and well-being of our guests and their families is our top priority,” Build-A-Bear said in a statement. “Out of an abundance of caution, consumers should immediately stop using the Heartwarming Hugs Bear and return it to their local Build-A-Bear Workshop store for a refund in the form of a refund or a gift card for the purchase price.”
The product is intended for ages 3 and up and includes a warning label that advises adult supervision due to hot and cold material.
The bears have been sold at Build-A-Bear Workshop stores and online since January for about $48.
